User experience: Change acidic water to alkaline

The Department of Agricultural (DOA) Soil Faculty Head Office in Putrajaya informed us that they have issues with salty water with very low pH. A trip to Department Of Agriculture (DOA) Ayer Hitam Johor has led us to new findings of what Biowash Soil Amendment (SA) was able to do.

We were shown the site for the water sources, of which 2 were river streams and 1 mountain stream. Samples from the following sources were taken with portable pH meter:-

Source A: Stream A – pH reading of 2.87 (The average of 3 readings)

Source B: Stream B – pH reading of 2.93 (The average of 3 readings)

Source C: Mountain stream – with pH reading of 3.45 (The average of 3 readings)

pH readings for all water sources as indicated above are very acidic, not advisable to be used for watering plants. The following may be some of the factors resulting the low pH :-

a. The location of the streams are close by industrial zone where syntetic chemicals disposal are

seen.

b. The usage of pesticides and synthetic chemical fertilizers that sips into the soil and flow into river

streams

c. The land is situated in a vally and floods regularly during monsoon season.

Source B with pH of 2.93 was selected to carry out the trial. Five (5) mineral bottles with 10ml of Source B river water is filled into each bottle.

Biowash Soil Amendment (SA) is used to test whether it could amend the acidic water pH, with the difference in the amount of drops dripped in each bottle to see if there are any significant difference:-

Bottle 1 with 1 drop of Biowash SA

Bottle 2 with 2 drops of Biowash SA

Bottle 3 with 3 drops of Biowash SA

Bottle 4 with 4 drops of Biowash SA

Bottle 5 with 5 drops of Biowash SA

Results

Bottle 1 with pH reading of 2.93 jumped up to 8.87

Bottle 2 with pH reading of 2.93 jumped up to 9.24

Bottle 3 with pH reading of 2.93 jumped up to 9.39

Bottle 4 with pH reading of 2.93 jumped up to 9.39

Bottle 5 with pH reading of 2.93 jumped up to 9.46

The remaining 23 drops were added to a litre of river water and pH for the water increased to 6.07 from original reading of 2.93, making it suitable for watering crops.

The above results shocked everyone in this project and all officers were excited as they have found a solution to solve the water acidity issue. To test SA stability, further test after 2 weeks and a month will be carry out by the DOA officers.
